Monachew

This yummy cereal and peanut butter snack is perfect to take camping, on a picnic or day trip, to any get-together occasion. It is one of my boys' favorites and a highly requested item by my friends. It can be frozen if sealed well.

Ingredients

1 Cup(s)Light Karo syrup
1 Cup(s)Sugar
1 Cup(s)Peanut butter
3 Cup(s)each--cheerios, rice Krispies, Chex (any flavor)

Instructions

  1. Combine the Light Karo syrup and sugar in a 1 1/2 quart saucepan. Heat, stirring constantly, to a rolling boil.
  2. Remove from heat and mix in the peanut butter.
  3. In a separate large bowl, combine the 3 types of cereal. Pour the peanut butter mixture over the cereal mixture and stir to coat the cereal well.
  4. Pour the Monachew out on two sheets of waxed paper to cool. (This is where I start munching. It is so good warm.) When completely cooled, place in a tightly sealed container. (I kind of crumble it up as I store it.)

I loved this1 It was so easy to make and my kids helped out. They ate the first batch intwo days so we made another and after I started cooking I realized I didn't have enough peanut butter so we used 1/2 cup of peanut butter and half a cuop of chocolate chips and it worked just the same and was really good! Hope you don't mind I implenmented your recipe!

Caylie's mama--It is supposed to be chewy. It should set up on the waxed paper so that you can easily pull it apart or break it up, but it is best when it is soft and chewy.

I just tried this recipe. It was easy and yummy! I'm taking it on our MOPS Steering retreat this weekend. I'm sure it will be a hit. By the way, I went to Monache!
