"Ant"acids for ant bites
Our doctor told us after a nervous trip to urgent care that our daughter's fire ant bites (which became infected) could be treated on the spot with antacids (like a Tums) applied to the bite. Apparently it's the acid in the ant's bite that cause the itch and sometimes more severe reactions. Applying an "ant"acid (ok, irony added by me, an English teacher!) neutralizes the harmful acid effects.
