Pennies for Peace
Pennies for Peace promotes and supports community-based education, especially for girls, in remote mountain regions of Pakistan and Afghanistan. We have started collecting pennies at our school (5th & 6th graders). We all have jars or boxes in our classrooms, and students bring their pennies (or bigger coins) to add to the jars. It's awesome. There's a great promotional video sharing Greg Mortenson's reasons behind this cause. He's related to "Three Cups of Tea", the new hit book out in stores.
