I am new to the group and look forward to all of your comments. I stay at home with my three small children and I too work from home with a wellness company and help families to create a healthier home. This means removing all the bleach, ammonia, phosphates.. I am constantly researching statistics on the link between toxins in household products and diseases that are on the rise. I am feeling so much healthier since I changed over to natural stuff for my home - I am sick less and my allergies are almost completely gone!! I look forward to learning so much from everyone.

I made a post about a week ago and have been told that there was no respose from it. It was a post that had a link to a firends story about finding that she has cancer and may loose her one and only baby that she is pregant with. She will never have another child, and this one may not live! I saw this morning on the news that in a poll that there were 64% of people that say that the children in other countries need help from us in the US. Why does it seem to be a bigger deal to help children/mothers in other countries first? We do need to help others, but there are many that need help right here! Please find it in your heart to check out the link and give! Bless you, if you can! http://donatemoney2me.com/Please-Donate/MH8Y77G.htm

Hi everyone, my name is Jodi and I am a Weightloss/Wellness coach for Herbalife. I have been with them 4+ years and I love them! I had been dealing with weight issues most of my life, but the very worst was when we moved out to the country and I had to quit working! I got up to 250 lbs and was wearing a size 20 pants. I was miserable, tired, no energy and had some health issues that were becoming serious concerns. I tryed many diets and had no kind of success till I found Herbalife! I lost over 90 lbs and 10 dress sizes in less then a year! I have kept if off 3+ years and I have lots of energy! I also do not have toothaches like I did before! I also gained an excellient opertunity to earn a great income while not sacrificing my family time! I am now taking my weightloss/wellness coaching a big step forward and out of my comfort zone! I am opening a Comercial Nutrition Club where I will be helping others like me to have great success in weightloss! I am also going to be doing weightloss challenges and trainings

Feb. is Heart Health month. There are many foods such as blueberries that are excellent for your health. However, did you know that when they are combined with milk they lose their antioxidant power? Eating healthy foods is great and essential, but so are taking proper supplements that have been tested in humans. Make sure you are getting enough Magnesium for your heart health. It is the Mg in asprin that helps with cardiovascular health. Dark green leafy vegetables are a great source of Magnesium. If you have any questions, just contact me.

Don't forget to drink plenty of water. It's hard to do when it's cold, but your body still needs it! Go for 1/2 your body weight in oz. for adults. It helps to remove toxins and weight management as well. Drinking water 20 min before a meal will hydrate your panceras so it will function better. This is important for proper digestion. Keep hydrated it's also great for your brain.

Hi again. How are all of you doing? I thought I'd ask what types of information would you all like to talk about? I'll be teaching a common sense nutrition class this Friday for a school. I wondered what information you all would like to start talking about. I'd like to share ideas. Suz

Hi Everyone, I see there haven't been posts in the past few days. Soon I will be working in a wellness center here in Rocklin offering Nutritional Consultations. I thought I'd post a few tips for this group. I am a nutritionist and have been using nutriton for my fammily 10+ years. Tip: Drink water. Only water counts as water. If you add to it (yes event the lemon) your body will treat it as liquid food. If you're looking to lose fat, drink more. We need the following amount of water each day: 1/2 your weight in oz. For example if you weigh 160lbs, you would need 80oz of water per day (10, 8oz glasses). Remember to drink all during the day. Look for next tip.

Wellness Tip of the Week: NUTRITION - invest in a food log. It's amazing how fast calories add up. You also get see what types of foods you are eating and drinking. CARDIOVASCULAR - heartrate monitors are a great way to make sure you are working out in your target heart rate zone. STRENGTH TRAINING - Do you travel a lot? Resistance bands are a great way to get a strength workout on the go and they are easily packed away.

Wellness Tip of the Week: NUTRITION- need a delicious snack? Have some natural almonds. They are full of protien! CARDIOVASCULAR- Remember to challenge yourself. If you normally walk 30 minutes, try picking up the pace or running. In a few short weeks, you'll see an increase in stamina and strenght. STRENGTH TRAINING - It's not about how much weight you lift, it's about your form through the exercise. You should be able to keep proper form for 8-10 reps and really push hard the last 3-5 reps. If you start to lose form, lower the weight. It's okay. Every day is different based on sleep, how much you eat and how much water you drink.

Wellness Tip of the Week: Nutrition - When grocery shopping, shop the outside. Most of your groceries should come from the deli, veggie, fruit, dairy and meat ilses. If you do go down the aisles, remember whole wheat pastas and high fiber cereals are the way to go. Cardiovascular - mix up your workouts. If you normally use the treadmill, take a spin class or get on the elyptical machine. Strength training - Fatigue your larger muscles first (i.e. back before biceps and chest before triceps), its more efficient and will save you time.

Yes, I live in the neighborhood right before you go over that bridge. It's a great park. Anytime you would like to go I would be up for it. If the kids get restless, we could turn around. If you go Bakersfield, have some cookies for me. The cookies wont hurt you as much as the HUGE chicken fried steak at the Crystal Palace!

I am going to need the walk after this weekend.... we are going to Bakersfield (and to Smiths Bakery, of course) and then on to Cambria for a weeding. :)

I would be up for a walk, (I am supposed to be walking everyday anyways) you must live real close to my sister - she lives off of Woodcreek Oaks and Diamond Woods Cr. :) I don't know if both my kids would be up for the entire 40 min.in the stroller, but I would be willing to try. Doesn't that bike path go past that nice park with lots of grass?

I'm not totally against going to a Chiropractor, I just think my problem is just not enough muscle. My back and shoulders are fine except when my three year old decides he doesnt want to walk anymore, and insists on me carrying him up and down the stairs. I think building some muscle and loosing about 15-20 lbs. would help. I will check out the youtube video, thanks. Also I am rededicating myself to walking at least 30min. a day! Would anyone in this area be up for a daily walk? We could meet at a park and take advantage of the bike paths. My neighborhood park has a great on. I live off of Woodcreek Oaks and Blue Oaks, it takes me about 35-40 min. to walk my bike path.

Hi Becky, If you did want to see a Chiropractic, my family sees Dr. Jared Thomas on Sunrise... he is awesome!! I have a coupon that they send us to refer new customers that gives you a free consultation, exam, x-rays (if needed). I was always against going to the chiropractor beacuse the people I know seem to be dependent on them, if you feel the same way, you may want to do some strength exercises first (but being careful with your back - I still do my physical therapy exercises on my back with those big balls) and then if it doesn't get better... go see Dr. Thomas :)

Wellness tip of the week: Wellness success occurs when three major components come together: Nutrition, Cardiovascular exercise and Strength Training. Here's some great tips to help you get started. Nutrition: Most people eat more than their body needs. An woman who gets moderate exercise only needs about 1400-1600 calories a day. Start a food journal and see how you are doing. Remember drinks count! Cream in the coffee, a starbucks (they now have nutritional brochures that list calories), juice, gatorade all have a lot of calories. Don't forget to log them. You'll be surprised how fast they add up. Cardiovascular Exercise: When you are doing cardio, your number one goal should be your heart rate. Set your machine to a manual workout so you can control your heartrate. Use the heartrate monitor or buy your own but for a women around 30 years old should keep her heartrate at about 150-155 for 30 minutes 4-5 times a week. Strength Training: To build long lean muscles you need to fatigue each musc

Becky, I think pilates is a great workout to build core strength. If you are having a lot of back/shoulder pain your spine may be out of line and I would recommend seeing a chiropractor before you begin a workout routine. I know not everyone believes in chiropractic care but if you workout and you have an injury (chronic back pain occurs in 80% of americans) you can really do some damage. I am a fan of winsor pilates (www.winsorpilates.com)and reformers pilates. Most local YMCAs have reformer pilates classes. Good luck!! Let me know how it goes.

I was wanting to know if anyone could recommend a good Pilate's workout video. I have never done a Pilate's or yoga workout before, but want something to build me core, and give me some flexibility. I have noticed my back and shoulders being sore for no apparent reason, and decided that it was time to get serious about building some muscle.

Fitness tip of the week... Remember that eating breakfast is a must for any healthy lifestyle. You should have a complex carb (i.e. cereal or toast) and a good amount of protien. 2 egg whites are a great way to add protien. Scramble them up with some salsa or have them plain. Skip the simple sugars in the morning (i.e. jelly, donuts) because it will start your body off on a sugar spiral.

hello fellow moms. Like most moms I gained about 35 lbs with both of my babies and had to work really hard to get it off. It takes a lot of focus on calories and exericse. Please let me know if you have any questions about how to get started or how to spice up your current workouts
